Abstract:

The main objective of this study was to investigate the factors affecting students’ effectiveness in reading skills with particular reference to grade 9A’ students of Gacheno high school. The population of the study was 32 students and 3English from grade9A. The participants of the study were chosen through simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques. The data collecting tools were questionnaire and interview. Thus, the study used both quantitative and qualitative data analysis method. The findings of this study are background of the students’, motivations, and interests affected learners reading effectiveness.
