Abstract:

Modern agriculture increasingly adopts drones (UAVs) for both crop monitoring and precision spraying, revolutionizing farm management. Equipped with multispectral, thermal, and RGB sensors, drones capture high-resolution data for early detection of pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and water stress—enabling timely, targeted interventions. In spraying applications, drones deliver fertilizers, pesticides, or fungicides with pinpoint accuracy, reducing chemical use by 20–30% while improving coverage and operating up to five times faster than conventional methods. These capabilities support enhanced resource efficiency, cost savings, and environmental sustainability through reduced runoff and water use. Additionally, drones access difficult terrain and minimize farmers’ exposure to hazardous chemicals, improving safety and lowering labor demands. By generating precise data maps and actionable insights, drones facilitate data-driven decisions that optimize yield, input allocation, and farm profitability. Overall, integrating monitoring and spraying via drones enhances productivity, sustainability, and operational resilience in modern farming.
