Abstract:

Furrow irrigation systems dominate crop production, resulting in low water and crop production levels with poor irrigation water management practices further compromise the sustainability of crop production, leading to crop failures, water disputes, and reduced household incomes. The aims of the experiment was to evaluate the effect of irrigation levels and integrated fertilizer application and economic advantage of tomato fruit production in Oda Bultum district. Split plot design with three replication was used. Three irrigation levels (50%ETc, 75%ETc and 100%ETc) and four fertilizer application rate (full vermi-compost, full inorganic fertilizer, half vermi-compost with half inorganic fertilizer and zero fertilizer) were used. Soil samples were collected and soil physico-chemical were analyzed. Except plant height, most parameters of tomato fruit plant height, Number of fruit per plant, number of branch per plant and fruit yield were significant different (P<0.05) l between treatment during 2023 and 2024 under irrigation season. The highest marketable and total yield was obtained from vermi compost combined with 75% crop evapotranspiration application. The highest benefit (income) was obtained from using 25% deficit with vermin-compost in the study area and similar agro-ecology.
